Olá, sou o Filipe!
Hello! I’m Filipe, a European Portuguese teacher from Portugal and the founder of Portuguese with Filipe.
I was born in Aveiro, a beautiful city known for its canals and colourful boats, but I have been living in Lisbon for the last ten years. My passion for languages, culture and education led me to pursue a degree in Languages, Literatures and Cultures, followed by a Master’s degree in Portuguese Language Teaching and postgraduate studies in Foreign Language Didactics.
I also hope to continue my academic journey with a PhD in the future. 👨🏼🎓
I have been teaching Portuguese since 2018. After working in Portuguese schools, I decided to develop my own teaching business, allowing me to work with students from all over the world. Over the years, I have taught so many learners that I have honestly lost count! 🌍
My teaching approach is communicative and intercultural.
I believe that learning a language is not just about grammar rules and vocabulary lists. It’s about understanding people, culture, habits, humour, and the way language is used in real life. ☕
That’s why I have developed my own Portuguese programmes based on what learners actually need to communicate confidently and naturally. ✨
Outside the classroom, I am naturally curious about the world. I love travelling, learning languages, reading, visiting historical monuments, going to the beach, and discovering new restaurants and cuisines.
So far, I have visited more than 25 countries. ✈️ 🧳
I’m also a proud cat owner. A few time ago, I rescued a cat from the street, and he has been keeping me company ever since. 🐈⬛
